Tufts University: Jay Shimshack - Economics - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
Truly a fantastic course. I took it the semester after Econ 5, and it was a breath of fresh air. The professor makes use of simple microeconomic models to expand upon some really interesting environmental concerns and clearly links them back to the overall scheme of economics. I was very worried but everything was just explained so well including much of the basic micro that I never understood but can now do in my sleep thanks to this course. Very much recommended.
Workload:
Lots of reading but not all of it is required. He'll "hint" at the texts that will be on exams. Usually a problem set a week (and these things really help you to understand the material). If you follow along in class (and you will) these things will be a blessing to your grade. Exams are long but straightforward and the two policy briefs at the end of the year are almost fun to do and you can do them in groups but only have to submit one 5-page paper!
